Every claim points to a ledger row
The report is only as good as its evidence. Taaweel collects evidence in a defined order and records each item in a ledger. A citation in the report is a pointer to a row you can open, not decoration.
What it does
The evidence hierarchy mirrors how careful interpretation proceeds: the wording of the text first, then its context, then how the Quran explains itself, then reports from the Prophetic tradition, then scholarship. Taaweel keeps those tiers distinct so a reader can see how much weight a claim rests on.
For commentary, the engine records one structured position per tafsir source per verse. That makes it possible to compare how different commentators read the same passage rather than blending them into a single voice.
Limits to keep in mind
The ledger shows what was found and from where. It does not certify the soundness of a source. Judging hadith grading and the standing of a commentator remains the reader's responsibility.
- Tafsir databases are read-only; extraction is cached without modifying the originals.
- Evidence tiers stay visible in the report, not flattened into one bibliography.
- The ledger moves to an appendix, so the report can lead with the answer.

One structured position per tafsir source per verse, side by side.
Whole-word matching
Commentary search distinguishes prose from Quran quotations, headings, poetry and editorial notes.

Common questions
Which tafsir sources are included?
The current reference setup bundles al-Ṭabarī and Ibn Kathīr. The method is designed to take more sources as databases are added.
Are hadith graded?
Taaweel collects relevant reports and presents them as evidence in their tier. It does not replace the work of grading.
Can I see which evidence a conclusion depends on?
Yes. Claims link to ledger rows, and the audit stage records which objections were answered, sustained or carried forward.
